Last Friday, March 15, the fourth edition of the Sopar dels Miralls, the charity dinner to support biomedical research at the Dr. Josep Trueta Biomedical Research Institute of Girona (IDIBGI), was held. During the evening, IDIBGI recognized the commitment and support for research from individuals and organizations that support the biomedical research center’s investigations.

Granés Fundació was one of the entities that received this recognition as a promoter of the Granés Fundació Scholarships. This scholarship program has, to date, enabled the hiring of two young researchers, Albert Miguela and Melissa Samaniego, who have joined IDIBGI’s research groups in the field of disability. Currently, two are underway: one of the scholarships investigates the causes that generate physical and cognitive disability caused by Multiple Sclerosis. The other scholarship studies an innovative treatment for phobias in people with autism using Immersive Virtual Reality.

The president of Granés Fundació, Raimon del Moral, was responsible for collecting the recognition plaque and stated that “The Granés Fundació Scholarships unite our two goals: to improve the living conditions of people with disabilities and to support young people in their specialized studies, in this case, in their doctoral thesis research.” He also wanted to highlight IDIBGI’s work “as a leading institution native to our territory, and its human team, thanks to whom its research activity is growing and having an increasing impact on our society.”

During the Sopar dels Miralls, Galetes Trias and La Salle Santa Coloma de Farners were also honored. In a joint initiative, Galetes Trias sells a charity box designed and promoted by the institute’s students as part of an educational project. Vanessa Nueda, creator of the blog El crep de mi vida, also collaborates, participating in the project by sharing her oncological journey with the students.
